Mississauga apartments for rent
One of the most affluent cities in the Golden Horseshoe, Mississauga has grown exponentially in population and amenities since its formation in 1974, making it a splendid home to its 624,000 residents, as well as an attractive destination for those considering a move. Now the country¹s sixth largest, the city has garnered the reputation of being one of the safest communities in Canada in which to live and work.
Mississauga has excellent facilities and beautiful parks. Residents can take advantage of the city¹s 17 public libraries, 18 city-run swimming pools (11 of which are indoor), seven fitness centers, 23 indoor ice-rink surfaces for public skating and hockey.
Mississauga now has its own Ontario Junior Hockey League team - the Mississauga Ice Dogs. The team began playing in 1998 in the 5,400-seat Hershey Centre.
For those with an interest in the arts, Mississauga is a hot bed of cultural activity. The Living Arts Centre (LAC) is the local focal point for the performing and visual arts. Home to the nationally acclaimed Mississauga Symphony, Mississauga Choral Society and Opera Mississauga, the LAC offers studio art courses in its professionally-equipped studios for a number of interests. This state-of-the-art facility houses the 1,300-seat Hammerson Hall and the 400-seat Royal Bank Theatre. There are public art galleries located in the Mississauga Civic Centre (Art Gallery of Mississauga) and at The University of Toronto at Mississauga (The Blackwood Gallery).
In the summer months, the Waterfront is the place to be. The area includes Credit Village Marina, a new 63-slip for transient boats, Lakefront Promenade Park, one of the largest waterfront developments in Ontario, and a Waterfront Trail providing 15 kilometres of continuous pedestrian, cycling and in-line skating routes that wind along Lake Ontario from Oakville to Etobicoke.
