Stretching north from the shore of Lake Ontario to Hwy 9 and east to Toronto, The Regional Municipality of Peel encompasses Brampton, Mississauga and Caledon. With a population of over 985,000 residents, Peel Region is one of the fastest growing urban areas in Canada.

Peel has a mixed economic base with industrial activity concentrated in the south of the Region, while farming is a primary economic activity in the north. Peel¹s viability as a commercial and industrial centre is enhanced by Pearson International Airport located within its boundaries.

The Peel Heritage Complex is home to the Region of Peel Archives, Museum and Art Gallery, operated by the regional government to protect Peel¹s historical heritage. There are eight conservation areas in the region.

The Region of Peel is based on the principle that certain services are more cost effectively delivered over a larger geographic area. Public health, social assistance, waste management, heritage, water and sanitary sewers, police services, non-profit housing and 911 are some of the many municipal programs and services provided by the Region.
