Markham Apartments for Rent

With its mix of heritage and high-tech, Markham is a renter's dream and York Region’s largest municipality, with 220,00 residents. Located just 30 minutes north of Toronto, Markham, an award-winning Community In Bloom, is dedicated to preserving its natural beauty and history. The main streets of both Markham and Unionville, its upscale sister neighbourhood, are shining examples of this dedication, with their heritage buildings, interlocking brick sidewalks and quaint gas street lamps.

Known as Canada’s ³High-Tech Capital,² Markham is home to approximately 800 high-tech companies with more than 20,000 people employed in computers, electronics and financial service sectors. Corporate headquarters include: IBM, Lucent Technologies, American Express, Apple Canada and Nike.

There is an extensive network of parks throughout Markham, including Milne Dam Conservation Park, a 270-acre natural area located on the Rouge River. Toogood Pond is a popular scenic spot, given its close proximity to Unionville Main Street. Markham’s parks are host to festive occasions throughout the year, such as annual Canada Day.

Art galleries, festivals, museums, quaint shops, and casual and fine dining establishments, are plentiful in Markham and Unionville. As well, the town has its own theater, an excellent facility now in its 18th year of staging high-calibre productions.

You can maintain the sporting life here with 12 golf courses, four pools, 9 arenas/skating rinks, five recreation centres and 15 tennis courts. There always seems to be new housing developments in Markham, catering to the first time buyer as well as families expanding to larger homes. New housing developments tend to be concentrated north of 16th Avenue. Although housing here has primarily consisted of single-detached homes, there are apartments for rent in Markham that offer an opportunity to live in this great community.
