Hwy 427 connects all of Toronto’s major arteries ‹ the Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW), Hwys 401, 409 and the 407. West Toronto has highly respected schools, and a full cultural life as evidenced by Arts Etobicoke, an umbrella group that includes 60 local arts groups.
This area has a good mix of housing options. The well-established Lakeshore neighbourhoods of Mimico, New Toronto and Long Branch that span the shores of Lake Ontario, offer some Toronto apartments for rent. The area has attracted industry in many sectors with respected names such as Litton and Allied Signal, Labatt Breweries, Molsons, General Mills, Monarch Foods, Sears, The Bay, Holt Renfrew, and The Brick. There is also a growing bio-medical sector here.
